E3 2014 Predictions
I think MS will have a barnstorm this year as they know what direction they are going in now and also - i think - they were caught on the hop with the PS4 launch and weren't going to launch XBone until this year. It would explain a lot of the problems they have. But hopefully they will hit their stride. New games. They have done a price cut already. No kinect less model - i don't think they will ever do that. Maybe availability of the white unit maybe with expanded hard drive. I suspect they will bring all the apps liek Netflix etc out from behind the Live Gold paywall - it just makes no sense. I think they might ramp up the Games with Gold to make it closer to PS4 - its laughable at the moment. Maybe a cheaper 360 with better Games with gold would be a great bonus for people with young kids, maybe position it more as a set top box with games. If they could make it £99 would be very attractive.
Sony obviously in a strong position - hopefully some more games and more info pn Playstation Now. If they could do a bundle deal for a monthly payment for Movie, Music and Game streaming for £5 or so would be very attractive.
Nintendo - ok they are very behind at the moment but they are slowly gathering quite a collection of games there. the Wii U is a nice little machine if you ask me. I think they need to pull it out the bag with new games - New Zelda, New Metroid, New Super Mario 3D land 2, maybe a Mario Galaxy 3, SNES Remix. If they tossed in a price cut for the Wii U they could be a dark horse.

On MP's Pay and Political Party Funding
Recently MP's voted on receiving a pay rise of around 11%. People were - to put it mildly - not overly happy about this. Despite not being an MP I'm very for it and here's why:
it gives bad business less of a chance to sway MP's.
If you work as an MP - and some of them work hard and all hours for their constituents - then you should be paid accordingly. You don't want them being swayed by promises of big pay cheques for being on the board of a company with sketchy morals and 'all' they have to do is to smooth through some legislation to allow - I don't know - them to stamp on kittens.
Of course each MP is a different collection of cells so each will behave differently. But money always skwews people a little bit. So let's make it easier for them to refuse it. Most MP's are fairly smart and the danger of being fairly smart is that it's easier to convince yourself that doing something wrong is, another way, absolutely fine.
I think it should be the same for the political parties: apparently if we all paid £23 a year extra in tax then the parties would be funded so wouldn't have top go, cap in hand, to potentially evil business people. Who give them money. All they have to do is smooth some legislation.
There's always blame on the current Government for being Etonians - like because they have personal wealth they don't understand people without wealth and have no regard for them. Of course they do. As mentioned above they are fairly smart. But they do have a party to keep in power and a life after power to think of.
Along those lines at the end of each parliament then the whole cabinet of the ruling party should have to leave. No clinging on for power and with only one term guaranteed there would be less dicking around.
On top of that if the pay is better you encourage better people into the job, surely.
So raise MP's pay, pay for the political parties and a clear out at every general election.

It's All Going Tits Up
This is great. someone used The Guardian.co.uk API to chart the se of swearing in the paper over the last 10 years.
As we can see shit is doing a sterling job of ruining society whereas fuck is trailing off and wank is really letting the side down.
